How Bulk Landscape Material Delivery Works

Updated · 4 min read

Soil Direct delivers bulk soil, mulch, gravel, sand and other landscape materials by truck. Enter your delivery address to see which materials can be delivered there and the delivered price, choose a delivery date and time window at checkout, and a dispatcher confirms the order, usually within 24 hours.

How ordering works

  1. Enter your delivery address. It decides which materials can be delivered to you and the driving distance from the supplier, which factors into the delivery cost.
  2. Choose the material and quantity. Not sure how much you need? The cubic yard calculator converts your measurements to cubic yards.
  3. See the delivered price for your exact quantity and address before you pay.
  4. Pick a delivery date and time window from the ones the supplier offers.
  5. Place the order. A dispatcher contacts you to confirm, usually within 24 hours.
  6. The truck delivers to the street on the day you chose.

Who delivers bulk landscape materials to job sites?

Soil Direct delivers to residential and commercial addresses, job sites included. Orders come from Soil Direct's yard in Sun Valley, California and from supplier yards in the Soil Direct network, which varies by location; we prescreen every supplier to ensure quality products and full insurance coverage. For a job site, give accurate delivery instructions, including any gate codes, a site contact and your preferred drop location.

Is there a minimum order for bulk delivery?

Minimums are set per supplier and depend on truck capacity and distance. The price at checkout is for your exact quantity and address, so you know whether a minimum applies before you place the order.

Can I schedule a delivery for a specific day and time?

Yes. You choose the delivery date and a time window at checkout, from the dates and windows the supplier offers, so you pick one before you pay. After you order, a dispatcher contacts you to confirm, usually within 24 hours.

How is bulk delivery priced?

Delivery is quoted for your address: the price depends on the truck size and the distance from the supplier's yard to your address, and the price you see for your address includes delivery. To work out the quantity first, see how to calculate how much dirt you need.

What trucks deliver the material?

Most deliveries use commercial trucks: 10-wheelers, super 10s, transfer trucks, end dumps, bottom dumps and bobtails.

Where will the truck dump the material?

Drivers are only responsible for delivery up to the street. You may invite the driver onto your property, but doing so means you accept responsibility for any damage that may occur. Clear vehicle access ahead of time and mark the spot where you want the load.

Can I cancel or reschedule a delivery?

Yes, before delivery. Cancellations and reschedules must be acknowledged by the dispatcher, and we typically require at least 24 hours' notice. Call 888-688-7645 ext. 2 to cancel or to speak with customer service.

Can I return material I don't need?

No. We don't accept returns on ordered material, so measure carefully and use the material calculator before ordering. The full terms are in our delivery and returns policy.

Can I order by phone?

Yes. Call 888-688-7645 ext. 701 to place an order over the phone.

How do I pay?

By card: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. Checks and cash may be accepted in certain situations.
